I found this skate zine at Route 44 yesterday doing my daily drop-by. I live really close to the shop, so it’s easy to make it a routine to cruise in everyday. Yesterday I scored this zine called Short Wave on the table, one and only that was there. Apparently it’s copy 51/150. It’s got a recycled brown paper bag feel for the cover and back-cover. With some killer art! Definitely not a local zine, but fucking killer regardless! This zine comes from Brooklyn, NYC.
Inside you’ll find a lot more killer art and homie shenanigans, it doesn’t have that annoying consistent vibe either. The text all looks hand-written and photos printed on a xerox.
Two Heads are better then one! I couldn’t agree anymore. This creative mind flow work is illustrated Dylan James.
Always stoked to see some train-tracks next to any skateboarding. Maybe it’s a weird transitional path, but the tracks can lead anywhere. Just like skateboarding, you make what want out of it.
Magnethead is another inspiring soul! He works his ass off and still runs Lowcard. Lowcard now has turned into a full time job for his wife and friends. But he’s still busting ass out in the job feel, just to keep the working class love of the real life! If you’re a zine creator or enjoy a good zine. Then you should know Rob, because he’s one of the best! Check out Scragger & Rat Cage those are his other zines besides Lowcard.
That’s it, sixteen pages of Black and White raw skateboarding and art. I don’t want to spoil it by showing you everything! Check out Short Wave zines website and keep supporting local D.I.Y. zines!
